That’s because Green Dragon satisfies all 3 of my rules for VLM cleaning solutions:

1. Must be approved for “low moisture” or “bonnet” cleaning
2. Must leave low or no residue on the carpet (this is important, because residue can make the carpet get dirty again quickly!)
3. Must be easy to get good results

Now… there are a lot of other cleaning solutions available on the internet.

If you go down to your local carpet cleaning supply warehouse (like Jon Don or Interlink), you may find some good VLM solutions, too.

What I’m saying is “you don’t have to use Green Dragon, but it’s a great place to start.”

Despite my recommendations, some people will experiment with “cheaper solutions” like ammonia and Fabuloso.

But mixing your own chemicals can get messy. And what happens if you screw up somebody’s carpet? I’d hate for that to happen to you.

That’s why I always recommend using a professional product like Green Dragon. Something that has proper chemistry for VLM cleaning, has been tested by professionals, and has lots of real world experience & reviews to back it up.

VLM cleaners don’t typically use the same pretreatments and cleaning solutions as steam cleaners.

What makes a good VLM cleaning solution?

Here are my 3 rules for a VLM cleaning solutions:

1. Must be approved for “low moisture” or “bonnet” cleaning

3. Must be easy to get good results

There are a lot of solutions available on the internet. My favorite is Green Dragon from Encapstore.

Green Dragon is great because:

-It’s easy to use (and gets great results)

P.S. – some people like to start with “Fabuloso” which is available at many dollar stores and home stores (Home Depot, Lowe’s, Menards, etc). You can also use things like peroxide or ammonia. But unless you know exactly what you are doing, I don’t recommend mixing your own chemicals. It’s much safer to buy a pre-made (and tested) VLM cleaning solution like VLM.
